Birds of Paradise
Oil, sand and newspaper on canvas
30cm x 24cm (11.75" x 9.5")
This painting seeks to explore the concept of dreams, with abstract shapes morphing into something else. In this instance, two birds become apparent. In a sense, these birds could be said to symbolize shamanic spirits, having entered the Interworld, or "paradise". Hence the title of the painting.
